Strawberry Banana Daiquiri
When we made our frozen banana daiquiri recipe, I got the idea to add in some fresh strawberries to the mix and make a frozen strawberry banana daiquiri recipe! Strawberry fans will love this version, which is made with frozen and fresh fruit, Bacardi white rum, and simple syrup! We love the fresh ingredients in this drink. It is another delicious frozen daiquiri option for you if you love frozen daiquiris like we do!
Strawberry Banana Daiquiri Recipe
This is another delicious cocktail recipe, blended right up in our Ninja blender. It is a pretty basic recipe, it uses simple ingredients and is perfect on a hot Summer day. Here’s what you’ll need.
Frozen Strawberry Banana Daiquiri Ingredients
- 1 ripe whole banana
- 1 cup strawberries, frozen
- 3 oz. rum
- 2 oz lime juice
- 1 1/2 oz. simple syrup
- About a cup of ice
- Fresh strawberries for garnish
What is a daiquiri? Where did it come from?
The daiquiri is a chilled cocktail, but also a popular frozen cocktail, as well. It was believed to have been invented by an American mining engineer who worked at a mine by the same name, in Cuba! It is said that he ran out of Gin at a party he was hosting and switched to Rum, which was more plentiful in the country. The basis for a daiquiri is rum, a citrus juice, usually lime, and sugar or other sweetener. A basic daiquiri is served shaken, with ice, and strained into a chilled cocktail glass, however, it’s just too easy and delicious to blend these up with ice for a refreshing treat. We opt for simple syrup for the sweetener and love experimenting with different fruit combinations in addition to our other ingredients.
Strawberry-Banana Daiquiri Recipe Directions
To make this cocktail, combine ingredients- ice cubes, the banana, cup of strawberries, shot of rum (or 3), lime juice, and simply syrup in your blender. Blend until nice and smooth and there are no ice chunks. Pour into your favorite cocktail glasses, and garnish with a fresh strawberry, fresh banana, or lime wedge. This recipe makes two daiquiris!
Shown here is our Ninja blender that came as a part of our Ninja Kitchen System. I love it because it is a blender and food processor all in one, and it makes for the smoothest frozen drinks, whether we are making cocktails, smoothies, or protein shakes!
Can I use dark rum?
You can! You can really use any rum you have on hand. Using a coconut rum, or a light rum or dark aged rum would also be delicious, it would change the flavor slightly, but would still be great. We use Bacardi white rum in a lot of cocktails because it is just versatile and goes well with everything, but using whatever you have on hand is totally fine.
What about banana liqueur?
We opted for fresh fruits in this recipe, but adding banana liqueur can absolutely pump up the banana flavor in this drink!
Can I use bottled lime juice?
I really never like to recommend using bottled lime juice for cocktails, fresh lime juice is always best, but when it is in smaller quantities like this drink, you can get away with it. It’s a little more bitter, in my opinion, than fresh, but the amount is so small here, the other flavors will mellow it out just fine.
How can I make this sweeter?
The fruits add sweetness to this drink, but depending on the ripeness of the fruit, you may opt to add a little sweetness in addition. We love agave syrup for adding some sweetness to daiquiris or margaritas. Yum!
