Frozen Pink Lemonade Margarita

How to make a pink lemonade margarita?

To make this drink, we combine our pink lemonade and tequila, plus a few other ingredients. Of course, we rimmed our glass with coarse salt. You could use sugar, if you prefer, and we couldn’t pass up garnishing this with fresh lemons and raspberries.

What even is pink lemonade, anyway?

While most commercial pink lemonades these days are colored with dye, with no real fruit involved, traditionally pink lemonade was made from lemonade mixed with cranberry, strawberry, or raspberry juice. While you can use any pink lemonade, or make your own from concentrate or from scratch, we love Simply juices over here and they have a lemonade with raspberry and a lemonade with strawberry that are both perfect. For this recipe, we went the raspberry route and used Simply lemonade with raspberry. Here’s the full list of ingredients for this pink margarita-

  • 4 oz. Simply lemonade with raspberry
  • 1 ½ oz. Tequila
  • ½ oz. Triple Sec
  • 1 cup ice
  • Coarse salt
  • Fresh lemon slices and raspberries for garnish

What kind of tequila should I use?

Typically, we use silver tequila, also called blanco tequila, for margaritas. Of course, you can always use whatever you have on hand. Or, keep it budget friendly with these 10 best “cheap” tequilas. From that list we have used and loved Olmeca Altos and Epsolon tequilas. We like to keep our cocktails budget friendly, but you can always get fancy with your tequila if you prefer. Obviously, more expensive liquors provide a smoother taste. But, we find that when you are mixing with yummy ingredients, it’s not as big of a factor for your drinks.
