Frozen Banana Daiquiri Recipe
If you have some ripe bananas you need to use, you might consider this delicious frozen banana daiquiri recipe! You need just a few ingredients for this recipe, including fresh banana (yum, fresh fruit!) and either white rum or aged rum, your choice. We opted for Bacardi white rum, and these turned out amazing! While the first daiquiri was invented in Cuba in the 1800s, the banana daiquiri was first made 50 or so years ago at St. Thomas Mountaintop Bar. Let’s talk about how to make them! Frozen Banana Daiquiri Recipe
Frozen Banana Daiquiri Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make a frozen banana daiquiri, and this recipe makes two-
- 2 ripe large bananas
- 3 oz rum
- 1 oz orange juice
- 2 oz lime juice
- 1 oz simple syrup
- Ice
- Maraschino cherries for garnish
- Optional, lime wedge for garnish
What kind of rum is best for banana daiquiris?
When it comes to rum for this recipe, you can use whatever you have on hand, or you can opt for either a white rum, an aged light rum, dark rum, or even a coconut rum, which would compliment this drink really well. We love Bacardi as an all-around go-to rum, or Cruzan for a budget friendly aged rum, and finally, of course, Malibu is our favorite coconut rum.
For the rest of ingredients, whatever you have on hand for orange juice, of course, fresh lime juice is best, but the bottled will do in a pinch. Then, to make simple syrup you just combine equal parts sugar and water (usually a cup of each) and heat them on the stove over medium heat until the sugar melts and you have the perfect sugar to add just a bit of sweetness. We get lots of sweetness from the orange juice in this recipe, so just a little simply syrup will do. We opted for a yummy orange juice to blend these up over an orange liqueur such as triple sec.
How to make a Frozen Banana Daiquiri
This recipe is super easy to make, you combine the ingredients- ice, whole banana (2), rum, orange juice, and simply syrup in to a blender and blend until smooth and frosty. Pour mixture into your favorite cocktail glasses and garnish with a maraschino cherry! For a printable version of this recipe, see below!
The Best Blender for Daiquiris
We use a Ninja kitchen system, which we love because it is a blender and processor all in one. It makes for the smoothest blended drinks, and this banana daiquiri is no exception. Since we add ice to this cocktail, there’s no need to use frozen bananas, but if you wanted to, the Ninja would have no problem blending them up.
Best garnishes for a Banana Daiquiri
You have lots of garnish options for a frozen banana daiquiri. You could use a lime wheel or wedge, a banana slice, or you could do like us and opt for a simply maraschino cherry. Cocktail umbrellas would also be really cute on this tropical drink.
Banana flavored things have always been some of my favorites, so I can see this daiquiri becoming one of my most favorites. Such a delicious drink made with fresh ingredients. While we’re getting major pina colada vibes from this, the banana flavor definitely sets it apart. We also opted not to use banana liqueur in this recipe, just because fresher is better when it comes to ingredients, and the fresh bananas give us just the right amount of banana flavor.
