Substitutions:

  • Want to make this recipe a Rumchata white hot chocolate? Substitute the cocoa powder and semi-sweet chocolate chips for 1/2 cup white chocolate chips, instead!
  • You can use any toppings on this hot chocolate that you like. Whipped cream, caramel sauce, and chocolate syrup would all be delicious. A sprinkle of cinnamon would also compliment the rum chata flavors of cinnamon as well! Really wow your hot chocolate drinkers by adding a cinnamon stick!

How do you make Rumchata Hot Chocolate in the slow cooker?

To convert this recipe for your crock pot you are going to want to double (or even triple) the ingredients. Combine the milk, sugar, chocolate, and powdered cocoa in your crock pot, and heat on low for 2-3 hours, until chocolate has melted and everything is well heated through. Stir in Rumchata just before serving, and allow 10-15 minutes for the mixture to warm back up fully. This is perfect for serving to a large group (of adults, of course).
