Irish Coffee Recipe with Baileys and Jameson
Hey friends, I have a fun seasonal drink for you today that you can enjoy next month while celebrating St. Patrick’s Day! I wanted to create a delicious Irish Coffee recipe to share, and this one is delicious!
It takes just a few ingredients, and you’ll be enjoying a nice warm cup of Irish Coffee.
Here’s what you’ll need-
- 2/3 cup hot freshly brewed coffee
- 2 tsp brown sugar
- 1 1/2 oz. Jameson Irish Whiskey
- 1 oz. Baileys Irish Cream
- 1/2 oz. Heavy Whipping Cream
For some extra fun, serve it in these fun mugs!
You could also alter this a bit to suit your tastes, I added the heavy whipping cream to give it a little more creaminess, but you could certainly just use Baileys if that’s what you prefer, and you could opt out of the whiskey as well, for a version with a little less alcohol.
I also topped mine with a whole lot of whipped cream for a really yummy treat.
To make it, start with your freshly brewed hot coffee- whatever type you have on hand will do fine.
Add the 2 tsp of brown sugar first, so it can melt in the coffee. Then add your 1 oz. of Baileys Irish Cream.
Then, add yourself a half ounce of heavy whipping cream for an extra creamy coffee, or if you prefer some extra of that Baileys flavor, opt for another ounce of Baileys.
Give it a quick stir, then top generously with whipped cream. For a printable version of this recipe, see below.
Traditionally, Irish Coffee was served only with the Irish Whiskey and a little brown sugar, with some freshly whipped cream on top, so if you have the time, you could make your own whipped cream by adding 2 tbsp of sugar to 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, and whipping it up until peaks form.
While whiskey has been a tradition for the Irish for hundreds of years, Irish Coffee is actually a bit more modern and was invented in the 1940s by an Irish Chef. You can learn more about the history of Irish Coffee, and transatlantic flights, at the Foynes Flying Boat and Maritime Museum. Definitely adding that to my bucket list!
