Shaken Pina Colada Recipe
Today I am sharing a delicious Shaken Pina Colada recipe. Most Pina Colada are frozen, blended with ice, like our blended Piña Colada with coconut rum, but sometimes we just want a simple, easy to drink cocktail, and that’s where this shaken version comes in. It is full of tropical flavors from the pineapple and coconut, perfect for a hot Summer day.
Why we love this recipe-
- No blender needed- this Pina Colada is shaken, which means its faster and easier to make! This is THE BEST pineapple cocktail you can make.
- It is a fun twist on a classic cocktail. All the good of a creamy piña colada in a shaken cocktail.
- This is the way to go for delicious homemade piña coladas.
- There’s no piña colada mix in this recipe- we used pineapple juice and cream of coconut to mix our own creation.
- A piña colada is a classic tropical cocktail with the perfect flavors. It is an easy to drink, delicious cocktail, that will make you feel like you are on a tropical vacation.
- You don’t need fresh pineapple chunks, or frozen pineapple for this drink, unless you want them for garnish.
Shaken Piña Colada Ingredients:
- 2 ounces white rum (or other light rum)
- 2 ounces pineapple juice
- 1 ounce cream of coconut
- Fresh pineapple for garnish
- Maraschino cherries for garnish
- 1 cup of Ice, plus extra to fill your glass
Note: we prefer cream of coconut, specifically, Coco Real, over coconut cream, because it adds sweetness to the drink. For a less sweet drink you can swap the cream of coconut for regular Coco Lopez coconut cream. Fresh pineapple juice will also be less sweet than store bought. For store bought, you can use canned pineapple juice or grab a bottle from the juice section in the store.
Directions:
Step 1: To a cocktail shaker, add 1 cup ice, rum, pineapple juice, and cream of coconut. Shake vigorously.
Step 2: Fill a tall glass with plenty of ice cubes.
Step 3: Pour, the cocktail, strained, over the fresh ice.
Step 4: Garnish with a fresh pineapple wedge and a maraschino cherry.
We hope you enjoy this delicious on the rocks piña colada recipe. It is packed with pineapple flavor and the creamy sweet coconut. Pina Coladas are one of my most favorite recipes, and this is my favorite way to enjoy them. They are perfect for sipping on the beach, pool parties, and more. Is a Pina Colada blended or shaken?
The original classic Pina Colada is blended, the shaken version is a more modern, but delicious way to enjoy one.
Does pineapple juice foam when shaken?
Sometimes it does, but the foam typically settles down. You can skim it off the top or even strain your cocktail.
Why do bartenders shake drinks with ice?
It serves several purposes. First, shaking a drink combines harder to combine ingredients- like cream of coconut in this drink. It chills the cocktail, and makes for the perfect cocktail texture.
