Tips & FAQs

  • Don’t have any Malibu rum? Use your favorite bland of plain rum with a teaspoon of coconut extract in your drink for the coconut flavor.
  • You can also garnish this with a slice of orange or even a piece of fresh coconut if you are really feeling the tropical vibes.
  • You can also add a bit of pineapple juice to this drink- opt to split the difference and do two ounces of orange and two ounces of pineapple. Then, be sure and add a fresh pineapple slice to your garnish!
  • Definitely use your cocktail shaker on this one for a perfectly mixed drink.
  • Freeze orange juice or pineapple juice into ice cubes so that your drink never gets watered down.
Malibu Rum Punch

What is rum punch made of?

We usually see rum punches made from your favorite rum, tropical juices like pineapple, orange, passion fruit, or even cranberry juice, and grenadine!

Is Malibu rum actually rum?

While lighter on the alcohol at 21% ABV, yes Malibu is rum. Some people may call it a liqueur, but it doesn’t really fall under that definition, in my opinion.
