Strawberry Daiquiri Jello Shots

These Strawberry Daiquiri Jello Shots are so cute and fun for Summer parties. They’re made with strawberry jello and Malibu coconut rum, then topped with fresh strawberries and limes. They are the perfect tasty treat for Cinco De Mayo, Summer get-togethers, and more. May is the perfect month to enjoy these- it is National Strawberry Month!

Why we love this recipe-

• It’s so easy to make this fun grown-up treat. The strawberry jello mix and Malibu are all you truly need to whip these up. The toppings just take them to the next level.
• We make lots of vodka jello shots, but these are one of our favorite rum jello shots.
• This recipe makes 16 (2 oz.) jello shots, but can be easily doubled or tripled to make enough for a larger crowd, you can make any number of jello shots. They’re the perfect party treat.

We were inspired by the classic Strawberry Daiquiri cocktail ingredients on these fun shots.

Strawberry Daiquiri Jello Shots Recipe

Ingredients:

• (2) 3 oz. boxes of Strawberry Jello Mix
• 2 1/2 cups water
• 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
• 1 cup rum (we used Malibu coconut rum)
• Whipped cream for topping
• Fresh strawberries for topping
• Fresh lime slices or mini lime wedges for topping

You’ll also need 2 ounce plastic shot cups. They’re also called condiment cups, we usually find them at our local Walmart or on Amazon.

Directions:

Step 1: In a small sauce pan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.

Step 2: Remove from the heat and whisk in Strawberry jell-o mix, stirring until gelatin dissolves.

Step 3: Whisk in 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup of lime juice, and 1 cup of Malibu.

Step 4: Pour the strawberry jello shot mix into 2 ounce plastic cups.

Step 5: Transfer jello shots to the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to chill.

Step 6: Before serving, top with whipped cream, fresh strawberry halves, and lime slices, if desired.

Pay attention to the size of the strawberries, in strawberry season they can get pretty large, but you want smaller strawberries for this garnish. You can top with a whole strawberry, or take off the top of each strawberry and divide them in half.

Tips & Tricks:

• You can swap the strawberry jello for any red colored jello, or any other flavor you like. You can also swap out the liquor type or flavor, plus the fruit on top, as well, for endless jello shot flavors.
• Any clear liquor, like white rum (light rum, or clear rum), your favorite vodka, or even flavored vodka are all delicious in jello shots!
• Place the plastic shot glasses onto a baking sheet to easily transport them to the refrigerator.

What is the ratio of alcohol to water in jello shots?

If you add too much liquor, it can cause jello shots not to set properly. When I’m making classic jello shots, I add 1/2 cup of alcohol for every 2 cups of water that the jello box calls for. I.E.. if the box calls for 2 cups of water total I use 1 1/2 cups water and 1/2 cup liquor.

This recipe also swaps 1/2 cup of water for lime juice, which doesn’t affect the jello setting.
