Substitutions:

  • Jello- you can use any red jello for this recipe, we love how dark the cherry jello is, but strawberry jello is another great option!
  • Liquor- you can swap the vodka in these for any liquor of your choice!
  • Toppings- we opted not to top these, but they would be really cool with some bright red sprinkles sprinkled on top of the black layer.

Vampire Jello Shots Directions:

Step 1: Add plastic cups to a shallow baking pan or muffin tin.

Step 2: In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.

Step 3: Remove from the heat and whisk in cherry jello. Stir until jello powder is dissolved.

Step 6: Move jello cups to the refrigerator to chill for about 2 hours, until jello is set.

Step 7: To prepare for the black layer, add about ¼ tsp. of the black gel food coloring to the remaining jello. Whisk well to incorporate. Cover jello with plastic wrap and set aside at room temperature while the first layer sets.

Step 8: Once the red layer has solidified, fill the remainder of the cups with your black dyed jello.

Step 9: Return to the refrigerator to chill for another 2 hours. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

Top Tip:

Make this jello shot recipe extra spooky by purchasing food safe test tube sets on Amazon, and putting the jello into those. You can do the same red and black different color effect and it would be such a cool way to serve these unique jello shots.
