Strawberry Lemon Jello Shots Ingredients:

  • 1 (3 oz.) box of lemon jello
  • 1 (6 oz.) box of strawberry jello
  • 4 1/2 cups of water
  • 1 1/2 cups of vodka
  • Whipped cream
  • Fresh lemon slices for garnish (about 4 slices, or 1-2 lemons)
  • 16 (3 oz.) plastic shot glasses (found on Amazon)

Directions:

Step 1: Place your 3 oz. plastic cups into the cups of a muffin tin for easy transporting to the refrigerator. You’ll need two muffin tins, or you’ll just have 4 extras to place in the fridge separately. If you use two, divide the shots evenly and focus them towards the middle of the muffin tins to balance the weight. You can also use a cookie sheet, but I find with the bigger cups, a muffin tin is the safest bet.

Step 2: In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil over medium heat.

Step 3: Remove from the heat and whisk the strawberry gelatin into the boiling water, stirring until dissolved.

Step 4: Stir in 1 cup of vodka and 1 cup of cold water and stir to combine.

Step 5: Divide the jello mixture evenly between the 3 oz. jello shot cups, filling about 2/3-3/4 full. Discard any extra jello.

Step 6: Move the cups to the refrigerator to set, for about 2 hours.

Then, prepare the lemon jello.

Step 7: In your saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil.

Step 8: Remove from the heat and whisk in lemon jello, stirring until dissolved.

Step 9: Stir in 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup vodka.

Let the lemon jello cool.

Step 10 :Divide the lemon jello between the cups, filling the rest of the way.

Step 11: Move the cups back to the refrigerator to chill for another two hours, or until ready to serve.

Before serving, top with whipped cream, and a 1/4 of a lemon slice.

These make such a delicious treat. You could also top them with fresh strawberries, if desired. For a printable version of the full step-by-step instructions, see our recipe card below.

Strawberry Lemonade Jello Shot FAQs & Tips

  • If serving at an outdoor party, keep the jello shots refrigerated until it is time to serve, they do melt when the temperatures are higher.
  • The alcohol content of these shots is about 3/4 of a shot in each.

Can I use a different flavored vodka?

Yes! You don’t have to use regular vodka, the tangy flavors of lemon vodka, or even strawberry vodka would work perfectly, but use whatever you have on hand!

What flavored alcohol is best for jello shots?

We prefer to use regular flavored alcohol and let the jellos determine our flavor combinations, but you truly can use whatever you have on hand, as long as it is clear it won’t mess up the color of your shots.

When making jello shots do you substitute the cold water for alcohol?

Some of it! Not all of it, if you use too much alcohol the shots won’t set up properly.
