FAQs & Tips

  • Give this drink a boost by adding a shot of tequila!
  • Not a fan of Tajin? You can do a simple sea salt rim, or try our delicious Bloody Mary Rim Salt for a fun twist.

Is it a michelada or a chelada?

Both contain Mexican beer, but a michelada is a beer cocktail with a clamato (or tomato juice) base, and a chelada is the simple combination of beer, lime juice, and salt. The michelada reminds us a lot of a Bloody Mary with the toppings and tomato juice, whereas the chelada is kind of like pouring a Corona with lime into a tall beer glass rimmed with salt.

What can I use instead of clamato for Michelada?

You can easily substitute the clamato for a regular tomato juice if you want to skip the clam flavor (clamato is clam juice + tomato juice). Or, check out our Michelada recipe without Clamato.
