Well, learn how to make homemade Irish cream, of course! It is so easy to make, and can be stored in the refrigerator to use for cocktails, in a cup of coffee, hot chocolate, and more!

What is Irish Cream?

Irish Cream is a cream liqueur is a combination of Irish whiskey and cream, that typically has chocolate and vanilla flavors. We also add a bit of instant coffee to this recipe for some extra coffee flavor, as well.

Homemade Irish Cream Ingredients:

  • 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup Jameson Whiskey (or your favorite brand of Irish whiskey)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp. Cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp. Instant coffee granules or instant espresso granules
  • 1 tsp. Pure vanilla extract

How to Make Homemade Irish Cream

To your blender, add heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, whiskey, cocoa powder, instant coffee, and vanilla extract. Blend until well combined. Store in an airtight bottle in the refrigerator until ready to use, up to 7 days.

If you want to make a batch and store unopened, I am not a canning and storage expert, but you can use a sterilized container and store it for a couple of months, but once opened, use within 7 days.

Tips & Tricks:

  • If this is your first time making your own homemade liqueur, you’ll want to get some nice glass bottles to store it in, we love the ones that have the flip top that cinches down for an airtight seal. You could also store your liqueur in mason jars, if you prefer.
  • Change up the flavors- add a bit of caramel sauce, or a tsp of peppermint extract to make your own custom Irish cream flavor.
  • Don’t have cocoa powder on hand? You can swap it for 2 tbsp. chocolate syrup!
  • Homemade liqueur also makes for fun homemade gifts for close friends and family! Double or triple this recipe to make a big batch, and pour into pretty bottles for a great Christmas gift!
