Christmas Cranberry Margarita Recipe

This festive margarita recipe is one of our favorite cocktails to make during the holiday season. The cranberry and lime combination makes this the perfect drink for spreading a little holiday cheer. We made this drink with cranberry juice, fresh lime juice, tequila, and orange liqueur, of course. Keep in mind, good quality ingredients will make a huge difference when it comes to this delicious cranberry margarita.

Here’s how to make this festive Cranberry Margarita-

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz. silver tequila
  • 3 oz. Cranberry juice (we used cranberry juice cocktail, if you use unsweetened cranberry juice, you may want to add a splash of simple syrup)
  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 1 oz. triple sec (or other orange liqueur)
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 fresh lime wedge + an extra wedge or slice for garnish
  • Coarse salt for the rim (I recommend kosher salt, margarita salt, or you can use coarse sea salt, as well.)

Directions:

Step 1: To rim the glass, add salt to a shallow saucer.

Step 2: Run a lime wedge around the edge of the glass, and dip it into the salt.

Step 3: To a cocktail shaker, add ice, tequila, cranberry juice, lime juice, and triple sec.

Step 4: Shake well to combine and chill.

Step 5: Pour the margarita mixture into your cocktail glass.

Step 6: Garnish with fresh cranberries and a fresh slice of lime.

Tips:

  • If you don’t love a salted rim, you can do a sugar rim on these easy cranberry margaritas for a totally sweet experience.
  • While a good margarita has all of the ingredients, including orange liqueur and lime juice, you can make this festive holiday cocktail even easier by just combining cranberry juice and tequila.
  • You could also use white cranberry juice with this recipe for a totally new Christmas cocktail experience.

How to make a big batch of Cranberry Margaritas-

To make a pitcher of these margaritas to serve 8, follow this same recipe, but use 1 cup of tequila, 3 cups of cranberry juice, 1 cup fresh lime juice, and 1 cup of triple sec. Add all of the ingredients to a large pitcher filled with ice, and stir to combine. You can easily double or even triple these quantities, if necessary.
