Substitutions

  • Knox unflavored gelatin – if you cannot find Knox, you can use any unflavored gelatin.
  • Apple cider – feel free to use any type of apple cider. You can also use apple juice for a light flavor. We LOVE Musselman’s apple juice. It is amazing!
  • Fireball whiskey – if you don’t like Fireball, you can use any type of whiskey or even vodka. You could also substitute for similar flavored alcohol such as Stillhouse Red Hot Whiskey, Jim Beam Kentucky Fire, Sinfire, or Beach Whiskey Bonfire Cinnamon.
  • Whipped cream – you could also top these jello shots with caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, or even just a sprinkle of cinnamon. You could also make it even boozier with some alcohol-infused whipped cream.
  • Ground cinnamon – this is for topping only, so feel free to omit it if you don’t have any on hand. Apple pie spice would also be delicious!

Variations

  • Apple Pie Jello Shots – mix in a bit of apple pie filling and/or some crumbled graham crackers.
  • Cherry Jello Shots use cherry instant Jello in place of the apple cider gelatin mixture
  • Orange Jello Shots – use orange gelatin and orange juice in place of the apple cider mix
  • Apple Schnapps Jello Shots – use Apple Schnapps in place of the fireball whisky.
  • Nonalcoholic Apple Jello Shots – for a non-alcoholic version, omit the alcohol.

Storage

These delicious apple cinnamon shots can be stored in the fridge for up three days. Be sure to keep them tightly sealed, so they don’t dry out. Plastic jello shot cups with plastic lids work well for this.
